Commitment to Achieving Net Zero
CBM Group Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, in line with UK Government targets and public sector procurement requirements.
As a contractor delivering electrical and construction services within the social housing sector, CBM recognises its responsibility to minimise environmental impacts and reduce greenhouse gas emissions across its operations.
This Carbon Reduction Plan outlines the company’s current emissions baseline and the measures being implemented to reduce emissions over time.
Baseline Emissions Footprint
CBM established its first organisational carbon baseline in 2025, covering operational emissions from company vehicles, electricity consumption and wider supply chain activities.
Baseline Year: 2025
| Emissions Source | Total (tCO₂e) |
| Scope 1 (Fuel combustion – company fleet) | 96.706 |
| Scope 2 (Purchased electricity) | To be calculated |
| Scope 3 (Indirect emissions including waste, procurement, and travel) | Under development |
| Total Emissions | 96.706+ |
Scope 1 emissions are derived from fleet telematics data covering fuel consumption across operational vehicles during the reporting period.
Current Emissions Reporting – Reporting Year: 2025
| Emissions Source | Total (tCO₂e) |
| Scope 1 | 96.706 |
| Scope 2 | Data collection underway |
| Scope 3 | Data collection underway |
| Total Emissions | 96.706+ |
CBM Group is currently implementing improved environmental data monitoring systems to allow full Scope 2 and Scope 3 reporting in future carbon reduction plans.
Carbon Reduction Targets
CBM Group Ltd has established the following carbon reduction targets:
| Period | Target |
| 2024-2026 | Reduce operational emissions by 15% |
| 2026 – 2030 | Achieve 40% reduction in operational emissions |
| By 2050 | Achieve Net Zero emissions |
These targets align with the UK Government’s climate commitments and the expectations of public sector contracting authorities.
Carbon Reduction Initiatives
CBM Group has implemented and continues to develop several initiatives to reduce emissions.
Fleet Decarbonisation
Company vehicles represent the largest source of operational emissions. CBM is actively transitioning towards lower-emission vehicles.
Actions include:
• Introduction of electric vans into the operational fleet
• Progressive replacement of diesel vehicles with electric or hybrid alternatives
• Fleet monitoring through telematics to improve fuel efficiency
• Route optimisation to reduce unnecessary travel
CBM aims to achieve 50% electric or hybrid fleet vehicles by 2026.
Energy Efficiency
CBM will reduce energy consumption across offices and operational sites through:
• Installation of LED lighting
• Energy-efficient electrical systems
• Smart energy monitoring
• Reduced paper use through digital systems
Waste Reduction
Construction activities generate significant waste. CBM is reducing environmental impact by:
• Waste segregation on site
• Recycling electrical materials where possible
• Partnering with licensed waste contractors
• Reducing packaging through supplier engagement
Sustainable Procurement
CBM works with suppliers who demonstrate responsible environmental practices and prioritises:
• recyclable materials
• low-carbon products
• local suppliers to reduce transport emissions
Employee Engagement
Employees are encouraged to adopt environmentally responsible behaviours including:
• reducing unnecessary vehicle idling
• efficient route planning
• reducing paper consumption
• proper waste segregation
Environmental awareness training is incorporated into staff briefings and toolbox talks.
Monitoring and Reporting
CBM Group Ltd will continue to improve carbon monitoring across the business by:
• expanding emissions reporting to include Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions
• publishing an annual Carbon Reduction Plan
• monitoring fleet emissions through telematics systems
• reviewing progress against reduction targets annually
